. Some nouns are used with its own definite article. These are nouns denoting:
1) The names of rivers, seas, oceans, mountain ranges and other geographical names:
 The Thames, the Black Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Alps, the Bay of Bengal, the Canary Islands.
2) The Article does not use the name of the capes (Cape Horn, etc.), but the Cape of Good Nora, named the continents (Asia, Europe), individual islands (Ceylon,) with the names of the individual peaks (Elbrus, Everest) and lakes (Lake Onega, Lake Ladoga).
2) The names of some countries, cities and places:
 the United States United States, the Ukraine, the Grimea Crimea, the Caucasus, the Netherlands, the Hague
Notes: 1. Article, as a rule, not used before names of countries and cities, consisting of one proper name (Burma, London) or from the definition of a proper name: South Africa, Eastern Europe.

3) The names of ships, hotels and newspapers:
The Sedov, the Pravda, the Worker, the Astoria, the Metropol.
4) Proper names in the plural to denote members of one family: the Forsytes.
The definite article is always used with some adjectives substantives, as well as with nouns designating the nation as a whole.
